Record after Record during The Best 10 Competition Held at Lake Moara Vlasiei 2

Not too long ago, alongside my partners in crime, Iulius and Ovidiu, I took part in the Best 10 competition on Moara Vlăsiei 2 lake.

The initial information we had about our swim was confirmed shortly after the start of the competition. Here, the whole team with a superb 17kg warrior
After a tense draw of the swims, where our order number was 16 out of 18 teams, Ovidiu drew the A9 swim (By the forest) from the remaining 4 balls. On our way to the swim, we were informed that it was a good draw for quantity fishing when it’s hot outside. But that it also housed the occasional big carp.
As it was our first ever trip to MV2, we tried to gather as much information as possible about the lake. After an extensive debriefing, we came prepared with a lot of soluble boilies, ground bait and about 5kg of hard boilies, all home-made.

Quality baits, a lake teeming with fish and a swim brimming with potential – a recipe that’s hard to beat.
We used a few soluble boilies and a few hard boilies to engage in an aired out baiting at the start of the competition. As I was using the baiting stick to put out a few more boilies on last rod, I caught the swinger with the corner of my eye making a shy attempt at going up. The drill resulted in a beautiful 15.3kg carp landing in our net, the first fish of the competition.
By evening, we managed to get the carp going on hard boilies. Shortly thereafter, much to everyone’s surprise, we realized we only had about 2kg of hard boilies left. And the competition had only just begun.

The new record carp caught during a competition for 2016 – 21.425kg
The first evening also landed use the absolute catch of the lake, a 21.400kg carp. Desperately trying to find a solution, I made a call home for someone to send us some boilies. With the help of our fishing club colleague, Florin Amariței, the boilies made to the lake at 6 o’clock, the next morning.
While returning to our swim through the lake gate, and holding a bucket full of boilies, I greeted most teams on the shore. One of the competitors even joked about being sent a 20+ carp in that bucket.

Great joy in our swim as the 21.425kg carp made contact with our landing net
We were in the 4th place by the first morning. At one point, I had a strop of using a snowman rig with one of Frank Warwick’s The Sizzler pop-ups. Much to our surprise, the following two bites came on the very same rig. A high-visibility pop-up with a nasty smell, that perfectly matched out crap and Belachan boilies.
The swim, the boilie, the pop-up and maybe a touch of our own inspiration of using an aired baiting strategy for each road helped us break one record after the other, with 16+ and 17+ kg carp.
Close to the end, we also managed to break the absolute record during a competition for 2016 on the MV2 lake, with a superb 21.425kg carp.

We managed to finish the competition in 1st place, with a 10kg advantage from the 2nd place and, according to the competition organizer, we also managed to set a new national record with an average of 15.01kg from 10 fish.
Congratulations to MV2 for the wonderful lake and thank you to WLC for giving us the opportunity to engage in such a fishing session, one that will not be soon forgotten.
